Brenton is a lifetime Bloomington resident. He studied Psychology at Indiana University and Nursing at Ivy Tech before experiencing a change in his career track. Prior to coming to work with Indiana Center for Recovery, he had the opportunity to work in the medical field for 10 years, with a particular passion for cardiology.
He brings his experience from these disciplines and his own lived experience as one of the first alumni of ICFR to his role in Case Management. He chooses to share openly about his experience with substance use disorder in the hope that it will break down some amount of guilt or shame in those he strives to help. It is hard to imagine a career he could engage in with more passion than joining the family at Indiana Center for Recovery who gave him another chance at life.
“You can’t be brave if you’re indestructible. It’s people like you… People who are different, and can be crushed and know it. Yet they keep going… every time.”
